DETAILS OF INSURANCE INCLUDED WITH YOUR RENTAL

  • Third party liability insurance according to state's law (except if you purchase the additionnal US$500,000 SLI option.)
  • Deductible of $1,500 per incident . The insurance is void if the driver is shown to be in violation of the terms of the rental contract or if the vehicle is not operated in a safe and prudent manner. A police report is mandotary for all accident/incident, otherwise, the coverage will be void. 
  • A deposit of $1,500 is required when you pick up your vehicle The deposit is refundable upon the return of the vehicle in the same condition as it was received and not involved in any incident claims. Any client who is involved in an incident will have their deposit held for a minimum of 60 days until the incident claim is closed.

IMPORTANT NOTE
In the case where the guest would make a rental during subfreezing weather (at the beginning and/or end of the year and at any time at high altitude), it will be the responsibility of the guest to make sure to empty ducts and avoid using water in the vehicle to avoid any concern at this level. In case of any damages, all charges will be at the guest's expense.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety inspections 
    It is the principal driver's responsibility to inspect the vehicle (lights, tires, exhaust systems, fluids, mirrors) at the time of pick-up.
  • Drive on public roads only; overnight parking in parking lots, on the side of the road or at rest stops is prohibited. Always stop in safe areas and be sure to lock all doors when away from the vehicle.
  • Fire alarm, propane alarm, and carbon monoxide detectors: it is your responsibility to verify the proper functioning of these detectors and to replace any batteries as needed.
  • El Monte 's insurance does not cover costs for accommodation, transportation or replacement of vehicle if the vehicle is stolen or should an incident occur that makes the rented vehicle inoperable. In these situations, subject to availability, a replacement vehicle will be provided following the signing of a new rental agreement.

*$0 Deductible with Authentik USA: The $0 deductible option is offered by Authentik USA, not by the rental company. 

In the event of an incident(s) or accident(s), you will need to make the necessary payments to the rental company when returning the vehicle. Afterward, simply submit your detailed invoices to Authentik USA, who will verify them before processing your reimbursement. Adhering to the terms outlined above is crucial to ensure an efficient process.

OTHER APPLICABLE CHARGES
You will be held responsible for the following charges: 
a) Time and mileage charges computed at the rates shown in Page A of your signed contract (mileage to be determined by reading factory-installed odometer). Time and mileage charges are estimated at vehicle checkout.
b) An hourly fee in addition to daily charges for each hour or fraction thereof that the vehicle is not returned to the location where rented or designated by the date and time set forth in the contract, or sooner if demanded by El Monte.
c) Cleaning charges if the vehicle is returned unclean, determined at El Monte 's sole discretion.
d) A flushout fee if the waste and/or holding tanks have not been drained (valves open, cap off) prior to the vehicle being returned to El Monte.
e) Charges for repair or replacement of the vehicle due to damage or loss not covered hereunder, and payments to El Monte the amount of El Monte's loss and expense for repairs, parts, labor and supplies, and loss of use of the vehicle until such time that the vehicle can be returned to rental service, due to neglect, abuse, or misuse of the vehicle (including, without limitation, lack of proper repairs and failure to add oil, antifreeze, water, air or other expendables necessary for the proper and safe operation of the vehicle) or due to failure to take proper precautions to prevent freeze or overheating damage to the vehicle.
f) Applicable sales, goods and services, use and other excise taxes, local fees, and amounts charged by El Monte as reimbursement for taxes and fees paid or payable.
g) Any f ines, penalties, forfeitures, court costs and other expenses assessed against El Monte USA with respect to use of the vehicle by you while on rental to you, unless solely due to El Monte's fault.
h) Charges imposed by El Monte and fines which may be imposed by federal, state or provincial government due to tampering with odometer.
i) El Monte acknowledges receipt of the amount set forth on Page A of the signed contract as security and other deposits and advance charges as a credit to any amounts due to El Monte hereunder.
j) Fees and costs arising from breach of contract and including processing of traffic/toll/parking violations while under contract to you, as well as administration fees.
k) After vehicle checkout, a change in drop off location, date of return, or apparent abandonment may be subject to additional charges, at El Monte 's sole discretion.
l) Basic, minimum service, other options, early departure, refuelling, preparation, transfer, towing, provisioning and personal kits, one-way and travel surcharges, and other equipment and service charges when applicable to the rental.
m) Fees for SLI If accepted by you.
All replacement parts or repairs in excess of $50.00 US require prior authorization from El Monte . Please note that refunds can only be made upon presentation of the original receipt. Malfunctions of the air-conditioning systems, awnings, microwave ovens, radios, televisions, DVD and CD players, GPS and cruise controls are not considered mechanical breakdowns and no compensation will be given. 

UNAUTHORIZED AREAS AND URBAN RESTRICTIONS

Coverages are invalid if problems occur in the following areas and all recovery expenses are at the client's own cost . Violations of these restrictions void damage waivers and the client will be held liable for all vehicle damages including to tires, towing charges and other related expenses as a result of a breakdown associated with operating in these areas. Restrictions are determined solely by El Monte RV and are subject to change without notice due to, for example, road conditions, extreme weather, acts of God , security alerts, etc. 

Prohibited routes 
Travel on all public and/or numbered roads is permitted. Travel on non-public roads, unpaved back roads, trails and the like – commonly called ‘logging roads' or on any surface subjecting the vehicle to unreasonable damage or road hazard is prohibited. Clients may receive further information from El Monte regarding seasonal travel restrictions as well. We reserve the right to restrict travel, dependent on current road conditions.

Alaska , Yukon and Northwest Territories 
You may travel in Alaska , Yukon and the Northwest Territories at your own risk. However, no reimbursement will be provided for any repairs and/or damages and all insurance are void in those areas. 

Death Valley , California 
Travel in Death Valley and other desert areas is prohibited in July and August. At other times, vehicles may be operated in these areas with EXTREME CARE. Clients visit these areas at their own risk and El Monte will not be held responsible for extraordinary vehicle recovery and other charges. During certain periods these areas are not habitable and could pose a danger to the driver and passengers.

Manhattan , New York 
Due to restrictions on vehicle heights, propane gas and parking, vehicles with propane are not permitted in Manhattan and are not permitted to travel through any underground or underwater tunnels.

Mexico 
Clients are permitted to take El Monte vehicles across the US border to Mexico only if they take out MALI insurance. However, no reimbursement will be provided for any repairs and/or damages.

URBAN RESTRICTIONS 
Driving your vehicle is prohibited in the greater metropolitan areas of Montreal, Quebec City and Ottawa . For travel in these areas, park your vehicle at a campsite and use public transportation, taxi, etc. In the event of a theft that occurs in the Montreal, Quebec City or Ottawa metropolitan area , the client must pay the amount of $7,500.
